Called to Serve a Mission in Romania

June 4, 2014

We are happy to let you know that Rhonda and Doug Smith have been asked to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Romania and Moldova. They just received this call and the church has asked them to leave quickly – on June 30, 2014. However, given the recent excitement and ongoing developments in that part of the world, we understand the need for help there as soon as possible. Doug and Rhonda have been asked to learn the Romanian language and are beginning that process now. It helps that Doug has a working knowledge of French, but he is discovering that Romanian is indeed a different language.

Doug is not retiring and will return to the full and active practice of law upon his return in December 2015. In the meantime we are quickly making arrangements to have all of your files, projects, and legal work handled by:

 Brad has specialized in franchise law since 2005. He focuses his practice on the representation of franchise systems and businesses as quasi in-house counsel.  Jeff currently practices law from his office in Ogden, Utah. He attended Utah State University where he served on the President's Leadership Council, a four-year leadership scholarship focusing on fundraising and student recruiting. He attended Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon where he was selected to join the staff of Environmental Law, a leading law review in the environmental field. Jeff later served as co-managing editor of the review. During his studies at Lewis & Clark, Jeff clerked for FranchiseSmith, where he provided litigation support as well as aided in the formation and registration of franchise systems. From 2009 to 2013, Jeff was a litigation associate at Robert J. DeBry & Associates in Salt Lake City and St. George, Utah. He has a working knowledge of Spanish.

 Matt currently is of counsel to Rostam Law in Los Angeles, California. He was an attorney and paralegal with Allegis Law in Sandy, Utah in 2012 and 2013 and a legal extern with Pestotnik + Gold in San Diego in 2011. He was a law clerk for Franchise Foundry in Orem, Utah in 2010 and 2011 where he worked with in-house legal counsel on a number of franchise projects; reviewed, edited, and drafted franchise disclosure documents, franchise agreements, and various other business contracts, and assisted with trademark registrations and franchisee payment schedules.
